    • John L. Harter, 55, Clintonville, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at the New London Family Medical Center.

      John was born on Dec. 10, 1956, in Milton, Fla., the son of the late Laurie and Ida Mae (Black) Harter. He was raised in Milton, Fla., where he later graduated from high school. On Aug. 6, 1993, he married Linda Hopfensperger in Pensacola, Fla. The couple lived in Florida until 1994 when they moved to Menasha. In 2009, they moved to Clintonville, where they have lived since.

      John worked at a building supply business in Florida and then worked at Clearwater Paper Co., Neenah, until retirement because of his health. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, playing video games on his X-Box and driving his Ford Bronco. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and his three dog companions, Brandy, Shotzie and Maia.

      Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Linda; two daughters, Dee (Ronald) Mielke, Menasha; Dawn Peeters (special friend, Jason Luft), Clintonville; two sons, Daniel E. Hedtke (special friend, Stacy Christian), New London; Sean Harter, Panama City, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and his brother, James "Jimmy" Harter, Milton, Fla.

      He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

      Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Marion, with the Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating.

      Friends may call at the funeral home in Marion, on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
