- J. Weyenberg Funeral Rites Announced
Funeral services for John E. Weyenberg, 97, who died Sunday evening will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Homeme Home for the Aging chapel. Rev. Charles Osowski and Rev. Roger McAbee will officiate and burial will be in Holy Family Catholic Church cemetery, Mattoon.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Schmidt-Schulta funeral home, Wittenberg and at the chapel Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.
Mr. Weyenberg was born Nov. 15, 1885 in Wrightstown, Wis., a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. H enry Weyenberg. One June 11, 1906 in Wrightstown he married the former Mary Pendergast who preceded him in death on June 24, 1951.
He farmed in the town of Hutchins, Shawano County area until 1943 when he moved to Mattoon and worked for Wisconsin Timber and Land until his retirement in 1958. In 1972 Mr. Weyenberg moved to Homme Home.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic church.
Survivors include a son, Earl, and three daughters, Mrs. Irene Dols of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Amos (Edna) Diestler of Wittenberg and Mrs. Richard (Constance) Hayek of Minneapolis; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and a great great grandauther.
Two grandchildren, five brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
