    • John D. Derks, 56, of Pell Lake, Wis., died Friday, March 3, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, Wis.

      He was born in Bloomer, Wis., on March 5, 1949, the son of the late Henry and Verona (Wagner) Derks. He graduated form Chippewa Falls High School in 1968. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the United States Army. He married Dale Williams on June 4, 1983, in McHenry, Ill. He had been employed as a waste and maintenance coordinator with Rohm and Haas Company in Ringwood, Ill.

      John was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pell Lake and a commissioner for the Pell Lake Sanitary District.

      He is survived by his wife, Dale; two children, son, John Derks of Lake Geneva, Wis., and daughter, Bethany of Pell Lake; two brothers, Theodore (Linda) Derks of Chippewa Falls and George (Joanne) Derks of Eau Claire; six sisters, Helen (Luke) Bowe of Tilden Lake, Wis., Dolores Connor of Wausau, Rose Marie Derks of Manitowoc, Kathy (Neil) Haselwander of Eau Claire, Joyce (Robert) Rogalski of Stevens Point and Mary Kay Riley of Loreto, Minn.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Norman and James; and a sister, Verona.

      Mass of Christian burial will be said on Tuesday, March 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pell Lake. Father John Scheer will officiate. Burial with military rites will follow in Bloomfield Cemetery.

      Visitation will be held today at Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home in Lake Geneva.
