- John Jack' Schenk
John Jack Shenk, 72 of 480 Grove Ave., formerly of 5500 Highway 34, Rudolph, died Friday, Nov. 28, 1997 at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Philip's Catholic Church, Rudolph. The Rev. John Hogan will officiate. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Rudolph, with military rites provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2534 Wisconsin Rapids.
Mr. Schenk was born Oct. 8, 1925, in Wisconsin Rapids, to John and Josephine (Bartels) Schenk. He married Marjory Kempen Aug. 21, 1948, in Rudolph.
Jack graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids, then served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He owned and operated Schenk Oil Co., from 1946-79, and then was employed by Colorcraft Corp., Stevens Point, from 1981-90.
He was a member of the Wisconsin Rapids Knights of Columbus, Council 1558, Catholic Order of Foresters and VFW Post 2534, Wisconsin Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Marjory; 11 children, Marcia (Thomas) Vavrek, Waukegan, Ill., and their children, Tim, Seth and Jonathan; Debra (Paul Sturm) Schenk, Milwaukee, and their daughter, Jennifer; Sandy (Randy) Hartjes, Junction City, and their children, Joe, Jay and Andy; Jack (Lisa) Schenk, Wisconsin Rapids, and their son, Chad; Bobbie (Gary) Janz, Wisconsin Rapids, and their children, Sara, Nick, Jesse and Justen; Krista (Jeffrey) Van Asten, Kimberly, and their children, Scott, Adam and Amy Beth; Jane Wagner, Stevens Point, and her children, David, Melanie and Matthew; Steven Charlie (Julie) Schenk, Wisconsin Rapids, and their children, Luke and Erin; Dean (Mary) Schenk, Dunlap, Tenn.; Dawn Schenk, Rochester, Minn., and Scott (Kim) Schenk, Wisconsin Rapids, and their children, Tony and Alex.
He also is survived by his stepmother, Irma Schenk, Wisconsin Rapids; two brothers, James (Barb) Schenk, Wisconsin Rapids, and Jerome (Margie) Schenk, Wisconsin Rapids; one sister, Jean (James) Clark, Centerville, Ohio; a special aunt, Dorothy Marks, Wisconsin Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents (John and Josephine Schenk) and an infant daughter (Susan Schenk in 1954).
Friends may call at Ritchay Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids, from 4-8 p.m. today, and at the church from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday. A Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, immediately followed by a parish prayer service.
A memorial will be established by the family at a later date.
