    • Age 81, died on March 17, 2004 at the Cherry Meadows Hospice, following a long illness and brief, courageous struggle with lung cancer. She was born July 10, 1922 in Megen, Holland, daughter of the late Wilhelmus and Anna (Van Dyk) Muskens. Sis married Dominicus (Sjef) Van Berkom in May of 1947. He preceded her in death on January 14, 1986. She came to America with Sjef in 1955 and settled in Kimberly. Wis worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton until her retirement in 1984, and was a member of Holy Name Parish, Kimberly.

She is survived by two sisters: Dien (Klaas) Brouwer and Nelly (Sjef) Voet, both of Holland; a nephew and his wife: Leo and Toos Van Oursouw of Kimberly, and their children: Jim Oursouw and his family of LaCrosse and Jerry Van Oursouw and his family of Neenah, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews in Holland, England, Canada and Australia.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister: Andrea (Jos) Plusquins and three brothers: Andre (Jet) Muskens, Johan (Jans) Muskens and Wim (Ria) Muskens.

The funeral liturgy will be held on Friday, March 19, 2004 at 12 Noon at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Jansen-Fargo Funeral Home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at which time the procession will depart for the church.

Sis was liked by her friends for always being in a good mood, despite her numerous ailments. Also well known was her "bottomless" coffeepot, of which she poured and served freely. Without the help of her many friends she would not have been able to remain at home for as long as she did and for this she was truly thankful. She will be missed by all of them.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Martha Siekman Cancer Center and at Cherry Meadows Hospice Center for their excellent care.
