- Joan Wilkinson, 78, of Hortonville, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015, at her home. Joan was born October 10, 1936, in Appleton, WI, to John and Alba (Grapengieser) Spice. At the age of nine, Joan, along with her sister, were adopted by Donald "Toppy" and Norma Mathewson from Hortonville, WI. In 1963, Joan married Donald Wilkinson and together they had five children. Joan raised her children in Menasha, spending the last ten 10 years in Hortonville. Joan proudly lived her life for her children and grandchildren, sacrificing much.
Joan will be greatly missed by her children: Traci, Little Chute, Ron, Appleton, Don, Appleton, and Margaret (Joseph) VanHandel, Hortonville; grandchildren: Adam and Emily VanHandel, Hortonville; sister: Donna Lamarche, Neenah; sisters-in-law: Karen Spice, Manitowoc, Vivian (Val) Wojcik, Crandon, and Judy Harris, Neenah; numerous nieces and nephews, and close family friends Susan and Bruce Schucknecht.
Joan will be joining her daughter Wendi, who passed away May 16, 2014, her husband, her parents, five brothers, four sisters, and numerous other loving family members.
Mom requested that a celebration of life be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Liberty Town Hall, County Road S, Hortonville.
The family would like to extend thanks to all Joan's ThedaCare Hospice nurses, especially Sarah, for all her help.
