    • Joan A. Newhouse, age 75, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 12, 2009, surrounded by family. She was born October 5, 1933 in Little Chute daughter of the late John and Odelia (Verbeten) Van Gompel. Joan married Wesley Bud Newhouse on September 14, 1957, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna. They had eight children raising them in Appleton and Freedom. Joan worked at Anchor Foods for a short time, but her most beloved job was as mother and homemaker. Joan loved traveling and reading.

      Joan is survived by her husband Bud and their eight children: Terri (Newhouse) Renkens, Jeff (Karen) Newhouse, Doug (Jenny) Newhouse, Sandy (Newhouse) Verbeten, Dan (Margi) Newhouse, Tim (Claudia) Newhouse, Karen Newhouse, and Julie Newhouse. She is further survived by 17 grandchildren: Josh and Jason Renkens, Stephanie (Newhouse) Cramer and Stacy Newhouse, Doug and Rebekah Newhouse, Corey, Tyler and Travis Van Kauwenberg, Nikki (Van Kauwenberg) Stingle, Logan, Luke, and Carly Newhouse, Jeremy Amerson and Colin Gast, Kasey Otis and Mikayla Newhouse; nine great grandchildren; two sisters: Grace Weiland and special friend Leroy, Elaine Wrobel, and brother Ken (Dorothy) VanGompel. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Florence VanDeVoort and Ceil Vandenberg, brothers Joe and Earl VanGompel, and grandson Steven Newhouse.

      A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. held on Friday, July 17, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Little Chute. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.on Thursday, July 16. Visitation will continue on Friday at the church from 9:30 am until the hour of Mass.

      Mom - We know you had to go, but you didnt go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You will be in our hearts forever and we will always love you. You are OUR sunshine!
