- Jo Ann Rose Wall, 80, formerly of Askeaton, died after a year-long struggle with brain cancer on Sunday, August 23. She was born on April 4, 1935, in the Town of Woodville in Calumet County, the daughter of Joe and Emily (Jacobs) Gehl. She graduated from Hollandtown Grade School, Kaukauna High School, and Chicago's St. Vincent School of Nursing. She then worked as a child nurse for a decade. She married JimWall on April 27, 1968. She was a loving wife and mother, an avid reader, and a world traveler. She enjoyed genealogy and wrote extensive histories of three branches of her and her husband's families.
She is survived by her son Jamie Wall, four siblings Dolores Farrell, Charles (Betty) Gehl, Jerry (Mary Ann) Gehl, and Eugene (Jo) Gehl, three of her husband's siblings Mary "Bret" Denzel, Jerry (Donna) Wall, and Roselyn (Joe) Gilsdorf, sister-in-law Marie Wall, many nieces and nephews, including Peggy Currey and Lori Gehl, and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim on September 28, 1993. her parents, three of her husband's siblings, Gene (Evelyn) Wall, Kay (Florian) Pfeffer, and Charlie Wall, and two brothers-in-law, Gene Farrell and Ronnie Denzel.
Friends and family may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. 10th St, De Pere, from 4:00 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, August 26, with a closing prayer service at 7:30pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday, August 27, at 9:30 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 7815 St. Pat's Church Rd., Askeaton. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to thank nurse Samantha Craw and the many other caregivers, nurses, and doctors who helped Jo Ann during her illness.
