Berg, Jerome O.
Jerome O. "Bud," "Jerry" Berg, Pleasanton, CA, 85, died June 6, 2008, following a battle with cancer. Jerry was born May 19, 1923, in Grand Chute, WI, to Leo N. and Mary Gitter Berg. Jerry graduated from Appleton (West) High School, Appleton, WI, in 1941. Ensign Berg bravely served as a naval aviator during World War II. He married Leone DeGroot on April 19, 1947, in Little Chute, WI. Following the war he worked 30 years for Ford Motor Co., initially as a pattern maker, and then as an engineer. He later retired in CA. His hobbies were woodworking, fishing, photography and travel. His travel destinations included Alaska, numerous European countries, Australia, New Zealand and China. The family traveled in their Airstream trailer all over the United States. He also served as President of the Minnesota Airstream Unit.
Jerry is survived by his wife Leone, Pleasanton, CA; children: Marilyn (Dale) Nordquist, Plymouth, MN; Mark (Dawn) Berg, Mound, MN; Kenneth (Beth) Berg, Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren: Eric, Keith and Craig Nordquist, Katie, Kyle, Megan and Grant Berg; brothers: Carlton, Victor, Vincent (Ione), Adam (Charlotte); sisters: Joan Janz, Loretta (Gerald) Schultz, Anna (Richard) Hayes and Florence Walker; brothers-in-law: Richard DeBroux and Clayton (Jeannette) DeGroot; sisters-in-law: Mildred, Verona, Dolores, Theresa and Anita Berg, Evelyn Dolan and Helen DeGroot; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Arlene; brothers: Francis, Gerald, John, Hubert, Leo, Peter and George; sisters: Margaret Maxfield and Evelyn DeBroux; in-laws: Geraldine Berg, Peter Janz, Eunice DeGroot, Laverne Berg, Paul Walker, and Judy Berg.
Interment will be at Appleton Highland Memorial Park, Appleton, WI, with military honors on July 11, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or Hope Hospice, 6500 Dublin Blvd., Suite 100, Dublin, CA 94568-3151.
