- Jean Landers Van Gompel, 91, of Neenah, formerly of Little Chute, died Sunday January 13, 2013 at Kilkenny Cottage, Neenah. She was born, January 2, 1922 in Oak Park, IL; daughter of the late William and Nellie (Allen) Robertson. Jean married Maurice Van Gompel on July 27, 1947; he preceded her in death on November 4, 1994. They celebrated 47 years together.
Jean enjoyed gardening in her earlier years. She stayed active at Kilkenny Cottage by helping deliver the mail, and helping residents read their letters if needed. She was also active in the bible study group. Her greatest joy came from her family. Jean especially enjoyed visits from her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her three children, son John (Nancy), Neenah; two daughters, Susan Ronald) Pynenberg, Kimberly, and Mary (John "Rocky") Vanden Boogard, Appleton; seven Grandchildren, Christopher (Special friend, Beth Hybers), Sara (fiancé' Tony Busch), Donald (Amanda), Craig, Jennifer, Andy, and Scott; four Great-Grandchildren, Austin, Donovan, Emily, and Ethan; two sisters-in-law, Edna Robertson, Eugene, OR, and Clarice LaBeau, Menasha; and several nieces and nephews. She was further preceded in death by three brothers, John, William, and Allan; and a sister, Ruth Fischer.
Funeral service will be 1:00PM on Wednesday January 16, 2013 at the STAR OF HOPE CHAPEL in HIGHLAND MEMORIAL PARK, with Rev. Mike Huff officiating. Visitation will be at the chapel on Wednesday beginning at 11:00AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Jean's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at both Kilkenny Cottage, and Heartland Hospice for all their compassionate care, recently and over the past five years.
