Wells, Jay Jay Q. Wells, aka Al J. Johanek passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 22, 2007, after a long battle with cancer. Jay was born in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, on July 8, 1929. He was the son of Joseph and Emily Johanek. Jay was a familiar name in radio and TV broadcasting since 1957. He was the leader of the "Jay and Andy Dance Band," "The Red Raven Orchestra" and the "Jay Wells Orchestra/Combo." He will be remembered for his love of music and entertaining anyone that crossed his path.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Grace (Honey) Wells, his son Jay Johanek, of Lawton, OK; his daughter, Gail Johanek, Green Bay, WI; stepson, Tony (Laurie) Wagner, Waupaca, WI; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. If you didn't see him on stage it's too late.
