- Janice Jan Helen Evers, age 79, of Kaukauna, passed away at St. Paul Home on Friday, February 16, 2018. She was born on June 9, 1938, in Appleton to the late Joseph and Helena (Stelzner) Drace.
She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1956. Jan held office positions at various locations, including St. Paul Home. Later, she continued her education at Fox Valley Technical College where she studied to be a medical transcriptionist and then worked for Dr. Thomas Tatlock.
Jan married the love of her life, Cletus John Evers, on June 7, 1958, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna; where she was also baptized, received first communion, and was confirmed. Together, Jan and Cletus were blessed with five children: Jill, Lisa, Dale, Kay, and Dean.
Jan was a life-long member of Holy Cross Catholic Church; there she was active in many circles such as: Eucharistic Minister, Home & School Association, Oktoberfest Committee, R.C.I.A, Choir, and Faith Formation. She continued her volunteering at St. Paul Home where she led the Rosary and was a Companion for the Dying.
With what free time Jan had outside of all her service to the community, she enjoyed gardening, dancing, playing cards with friends, antiquing, clowning, and traveling. She even took up water-color painting. She was an eloquent writer and had some works published. Above all, she loved and cherished her family and friends.
Jan is survived by her four children, Jill (Michael) Mitchler of Appleton, Lisa (Duane) Grosskrueger of Highlands Ranch, CO, Kay (Blake) Pluemer of Phillips, WI, and Dean (Lynn) Evers of Milwaukee; her eleven grandchildren, Jenna Mitchler, Mollie (Salvatore) Scozzari, Amanda Grosskrueger, 2d Lt Rachel Grosskrueger, 1st Lt Paige Pluemer, Blake Pluemer II, Cadet Pierce Pluemer, April (Mitchell) Ford, Joshua Evers, 1st Lt Stuart Evers, and Cadet Elijah Evers. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Katie DeWitt, Theresa Evers, and Sharyl Evers. She also leaves behind many other loving family members and friends too numerous to list but never forgotten.
In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus, and her son, Dale; her three siblings, Doris Janssen, Jean (Anton) Hermus, and Daniel Drace; four brothers-in-law, Frank (Rosemary) Evers, Marvin (Bernice) Evers, James Evers, and Peter DeWitt; three sisters-in-law, Eileen (Robert) Parmenter, Margaret (Stuart) Fuszard, and JoAnn (Darwin) Schmalz.
The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 12:30 p.m. at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna. Visitation will be held the same day at church at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Jans name.
