- Jim Tennessen, 85, Little Chute, died unexpectedly following a stroke on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Appleton Medical Center. He was born August 26, 1924, in Menasha, son of Joe and Ida Tennessen. Jim was a U.S. Army and Navy veteran who made service to his country his career. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, as well as the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute. In 2002, Jim married Carol Swanningson at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. Together they shared eight years.
Jim is survived by his wife, Carol; a son, James B. Tennessen Jr., Temple, TX; sisters: Betty Moody, Corona, CA; Milly Bauman, Oshkosh; stepchildren: Paula Bartels and her son Travis; Jim (Maggie) Bethke, Lori (Paul) VanDaawyk and their children Crystal, Tanya and Joe; Lisa (Lee) Meyerhofer; Glen (Erika) Meyerhofer; Lisa Young; Richard Swanningson; two grandchildren: Noah and Amanda Young.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; former wives, Mary Tennessen and Rita Tennessen; a daughter, Rosetta Tennessen.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2010, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Fr. David Funk, O.F.M. Cap, officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the time of the mass. Military honors will be performed by members of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute, and members of the U.S. Army following mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
