      Entered Eternal Life on August 17, 2015 peacefully with his son at his side at the age of 90 . Survived by his seven children and their spouses, James (Mary Swaboda) Groh, David (Mary) Groh, Bobby G. Groh, Betsy (Jerry) DeWitt, Kevin (Bambi Wessel) Groh, Daniel (Amy) Groh, and Colleen Dunphy, along with 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a brother Tony (Joan) Groh, a sister Dorothy Sullivan and sister in-law Annette Kamps. He is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and great friends. Jim was predeceased by his wife Virginia “Ginny” (nee Kamps), his high school sweetheart and eternal soul mate, as well as four loving siblings.
      Whether he was wearing his football jersey, military uniform, or surgeon scrubs, Jim excelled in every direction of life. With perseverance, diligence, and passion Jim filled each day with laughter and purpose. After attending Colgate University as a two-sport varsity athlete and graduating at Marquette Medical School, Jim served our country in Germany during World War II as a doctor. Jim practiced orthopedic surgery in Milwaukee for over thirty five years with many professional accomplishments including founding the Orthopaedic Associates of Milwaukee. delivered
      In 2009, Jim was inducted into the East West Shrine Bowl Hall of Fame crediting him for his outstanding performance on the football field when he played in 1946. He along with President Gerald Ford were among the only two inductees never to pursue a professional football career. Jim loved to travel the world with his Ginny, spend the weekends at the family hobby farm in Slinger, WI with his seven children, enjoying the retirement life with friends in Sun City, Florida, and watching the sunset over Green Bay at their home in Door County, Wisconsin.

      Visitation will be held at St Robert Catholic Church in Shorewood on Monday, August 24, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private in Appleton, WI.
