Mr. Herbert J. De Bruin

Age 70, died on Thursday, August 24, 1989, at his home following heart complications. He was born on April 11, 1919, in Kaukauna. He Attended Holy Cross Elementary School and Kaukauna High School. He was employed by Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company, Kaukauna, until 1942 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served his country in the European Theatre During World War II until he was honorably discharged in 1945. He continued employment at Thilmany until 1950 when he joined the Appleton Police Department. He retired from there in 1978. After retirement he worked part time for Rohm Bus Company driving bus for special education children. Ill heath forced him to quit that in 1982. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Appleton Policeman's Protective Association.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret T. De Bruin, Appleton; two daughters: Deborah S. De Bruin, Appleton; Diana M. De Bruin, Salem, Oregon; a brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Marilyn De Bruin, Kaukauna; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter J. and Dora (Kathagen) De Bruin; a stepmother, May (LaPointe) De Bruin; a brother, Cletus De Bruin.
Complete funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 28, 1989, at 11a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St., with the Rev. Orville Janssen Officiating. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home 537 N. Superior St. Appleton on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and on Monday at the Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass. A memorial fund is being established.
