      Age 77, died April 27, 1996 at the Gillett Nursing Home. He was born Sept. 8, 1918 in Center Valley to the late John and Francis (Schwab *incorrect: Schabo) Ahrens. Hank married Martina Peterman on June 29, 1947. The Ahrens lived and worked in Appleton until retiring and moving to Mountain in 1981. Hank enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a lifetime charter member of the VFW, currently belonging to the Lakewood VFW. Henry served his country during World War II in the Army and later enlisted in the Air Force from 1948 until 1951. Survivors include his wife, Martina; one daughter and one son; two brothers, Bill Ahrens of Appleton and Gilbert Ahrens of Menasha, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Irene and Evelyn Ahrens. Friends may call at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home i Suring on Tuesday, April 30, 1996 from 4 p.m. until the fueral ceramony at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Lakewood VFW chaplin officiating. Burial will be in Slab City Cemetery, Bonduel..
