- Death Summons Henry F. Roepcke

One of Rhinelanders oldest and most well known pioneers, Henry Frederick Roepcke, 73, died Sunday morning in his home, 823 Mason St. He had been in ill health for several years. Death was caused by a heart ailment.
Mr. Roepcke was well known in Rhinelander, having worked for the lumbering industries here for many years. He was also a former Alderman.
He was born in Germany on December 16, 1867. He came to the United States with his parents when he only six weeks old. His parents settled in Outagamie County where he lived until 1891 and then came to Rhinelander. On August 31, 1833 he was married to Bertha Marie Jeske in Cicero, WI.
The deceased was employed by the Queal and Mason-Donaldson Lumber companies for many years as yard superintendent. He was alderman for eight years.
Mr. Roepcke was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church.
He is survived by two brothers, Christ and William, both of Rhinelander, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Gother of Cicero, WI. And Mrs. Lena Newman of Milwaukee. His wife preceded him in death January 27, 1941.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 oclock in the home and 2:30 oclock in Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Paul J. Gieschen officiated. Burial was made in Forest Home Cemetery.
