Notes - Henrietta Mary Rutten was born at DePere, Wis., January 15, 1874 and departed this life December 8, 1951. Mrs. Rutten was a daughter of Johanna Sanders and Mathew Theewen. She was married April 3 1894 to Peter Rutten, at St. Francis church in Butler Co., Nebr. They lived on a farm in Butler Co. for 21 years, then came to Cedar Rapids to live on a farm until 1944, when they retired. Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Rutten: Anna Kleve, Theadore Ruttenof David City, Cecilia Kleve of Hillsboro, Ore., Lawrence, Louis, and Francis Rutten, Magdaline Roan, Joe Rutten of Albion, and Alfred Rutten of Cedar Rapids. One son, John, died on March 8, 1938. Three brothers & two sisters survive: Frank Theewan of Cedar Rapids, William Theewan of Lincoln and Martin Theewan and Mae Aerts and Elizabeth Phillips of David City. Henrietta and Peter Rutten were married for 57 years.
Relatives attending the funeral came from Lincoln, David City, Rising City, Columbus, Spalding, Albion, Petersburg, Newman Grove, Oakland, Seward, Elgin, Palmer, Kearney and Omaha.
Pallbearers were Leonard Kleve, Bill Kleve, Jr., Leonard Rutten, John Rutten, Tom Mahoney and Dan Mahoney.
