Was decorated with a Purple Heart and Oak Leaf Cluster, 3 Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge and numerous other citations. He is a past Commander of VFW Post in Alma, Mich. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ella; daughter, Kathleen (Loren) Brown; son, Harry J. (Barb) of Kalamazoo, Mich.; sister Eleanor (Vernon) Beschta of Appleton, Wisconsin.; brothers, Donald (Lois) of Madison, Wisconsin.; Merlin (Susan) of San Antonio, Texas; Wesley (Jean) of Papillon, Neb.; grandchildren, Deb (Dave) Maier and their daughter, Shaina, Pam (Gary) Nehring and their children, Heather and Matt, Douglas (Vicki) Brown and their children, Stephany and Nichole.
