- Harriet Parsons Chilton Times January 1908
Jan. 23 The Angel of Death has removed from our midst one whose name is associated with the earliest history of Stockbridge, Mrs. Harriet Parsons, who died at the home of her son, William, on Jan. 20, 1908, of apoplexy. Harriet Vesta Dwelly was born in Boston, May 29, 1823, and was married to Wm. Parsons Feb. 24, 1848. She, with her husband, moved to Stockbridge in 1854, where they settled on a farm one half mile south of the village, where she resided until her death. Her husband was one of the brave boys who joined Uncle Sam's forces in 1861, returning in 1863 and dying a few hours after reaching his home, leaving eight small children to the care of a young wife. All but two of her children had gone before her to join their father in the great beyond and although those left behind keenly feel her death, they know that she rejoices in her union with her loved ones over there. Besides two children, Wm., with whom she lived and Mrs. John Youmans, she leaves one brother and three sisters and a host of friends, who mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother, sister and neighbor. Her remains were laid at rest in the Lakeside cemetery on Thursday.
