A mother and daughter, who together were the mothers of 17 children; died
yesterday when their station wagon collided with a tractor trailer semi-truck
at the Skyline Drive - Dickman Road intersection.

Dead are Mrs. Eligiha (Delores) Robinson, 32 the driver, and her mother, Mrs.
Harriet Hudson 55, both of Route 4, the Fine Lake Road. They were thrown out of
      the front seat after impact.

Two of Mrs. Robinson's, daughters, Pamela Joy, 5; and Rocky Lynn, 3, sitting
the back seat of the car, were slightly injured.
According to Springfield police, the Robinson vehicle, going east on Dickman
apparently failed to stop at a stop sign and rammed broadside into the truck
traveling west and rounding the curve from Dickman onto Skyline.

The driver of the truck Ernest L. Ruthruff, 38, of Route 7 who suffered a
slight leg injury told police he saw the station wagon approach the stop sign
and fail to stop., He said he sounded his horn, applied his brakes and swerved
t0 the side of the road effort to avoid a collision.

The accident happened at 3:26 p.m. Mrs. Robinson, her mother and the children
had just left the commissary Ft. Custer. Mrs. Robinson's husband is a staff
sergeant in the Air Force stationed in Okinawa.
The two women were taken by an Air Force ambulance to Community Hospital,
where they were pronounced dead on arrival. The children were treated at the
      Ft. Custer dispensary.
Rocky Lynn was later admitted to Community Hospital where she is in "fairly
good ' condition today with facial lacerations. Mr. Ruthruff was released after
      treatment at Community.
The intersection has already been a scene of "several bad accidents", since the
opening of Skyline Drive a almost three weeks ago, police said.
Yesterday's death brought 38 the number of traffic fatalities in the county
      this year.
