    • Appleton - Harold Oscar Boers, age 92, died peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Heartwood Homes of Appleton.

      Harold was born on February 3, 1926 in the Appleton area, a son of the late Charles and Mathilda (Plamann) Boers. He excelled in the 3 R's and following his education Harold worked on the family farm during the depression. He was united in marriage to Theresa Burmeister on August 10, 1946 and together they raised their three children. He formerly was employed with Appleton Coated Papers for over 30 years. Harold was a generous and caring man to everyone especially his friends and neighbors. His hobby was being a mechanic. He fixed most of his friend's cars for a case of Adler Brau. In retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family and watching the Brewers, Packers and NASCAR.

      Harold is survived by his three children, Russell and Wayne Boers and Denise (Mike) Hoffman; six grandchildren, Rhonda (Charles) Van Ooyen, Cresta (Dave) Buss, Jessica Boers, Sarah Boers, Kyle (Alyssa) Boers and Leia Boers and 10 great-grandchildren with number 11 arriving in 2019. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter-in-law, Kay, parents, a brother, Lawrence (Lorraine) and three sisters, Leona (August), Dorothy (William), and Irma (Edmund) . A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home, with Dave Buss officiating. Harold's family will receive friends and relatives from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum, Appleton at a later date.
