Schommer, Excelda C.
Excelda C. Schommer, Neenah, age 83, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at Theda Clark Medical Center. She was born January 16, 1925, in Green Bay, daughter of the late Elijah and Melinda (Archiquette) Johns. Excelda married Joseph Glasheen in 1949 and they later divorced. She then married Ronald Schommer on April 15, 1967. He preceded her in death on July 22, 2004. Excelda was a housekeeper in Appleton for several families for a number of years. Then she was a homemaker to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Excelda was an excellent cook and baker. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor and she enjoyed gardening, nature, birds and especially horses. Excelda also had a great love for the bible and read it every day. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She is survived by her two children, Dr. Pete (Mary Carpowich) Glasheen, CA, Deborah (Ronald) Meyer, Neenah; five grandchildren, Lisa (Daniel) Kurkerwicz, David Glasheen, Michelle (Shannon) Nash, Tracy (Jason) Abraham, Michelle Meyer; eight great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Abby, Chloe, Eddie, Micaiah, Sonnet, Brooklyn and Nolan. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and dear friend, LaVerna (Dovie) House.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2008, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 1209 Cty Trk JJ, Neenah, with Ken Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held at the Kingdom Hall from 5:30 p.m. until the time of service. A memorial is being established in her name.
