    • Verona L. (Brueggeman) Hamilton, Appleton, age 103, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Rennes Health Care Center, Appleton. Verona was born on December 13, 1908 in Appleton to James and Louise (Franck) Van Heuklon. She graduated from Appleton High School in 1927 and was employed at Aid Association for Lutherans (Thrivant Financial for Lutherans). In 1933 she married Hugo Brueggeman who preceded her in death in 1960. In 1972 she married George Hamilton, who preceded her in death in 1997. As a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, she belonged to the Ladies Aid and Past Presidents and Past Officers Club. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 38, Appleton, and a Gold Star Mother.

      Verona is survived by her son, David (Marlene) Brueggeman of Little Chute; two step-daughters: Joanne (Dennis) Geiger of Appleton and Judy (James) Franzen of Hortonville; five grandchildren: Michael Brueggeman and friend, Peggy Purcel of Coral Springs, FL, Steven (Renee) Brueggeman of Greenville, Ronald Brueggeman of Menasha, Kenneth (Becky) Brueggeman of Madison and Kennette (Guv) Mitchell of Columbia MD; Thee great-grandchildren: Briana, Alexa and Elayna Brueggeman of Greenville; and special niece, Marilyn (Clair) Schommer of Appleton. She is further survived by Allie (Richard) Suelflow of Menasha; and numerous nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.

      Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, James Brueggeman; granddaughter, Jane Marie Brueggeman, and great-grandson, Bret Brueggeman; three sisters: Leila Suelflow, Vera Reimer and Dorothy Hamilton; and a brother, Kenneth Van Heuklon.

      The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2011 at ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Morrison St., Appleton, with Rev. Kenneth L. Frey officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Verona's name is being established.
