- New Holstein Mrs. Eva Kersten Milhaupt, wife of a former postmaster of this city, passed away at 7:35 a.m. Monday at the home of her son, George, in Kenosha, according to word received here Monday. Several months ago Mrs. Milhaupt fractured her hip in a fall and had been confined to her sons home since then.
The deceased was born in Green Bay, May 20, 1858, a daughter of Theodore and Mary Magdalene Kersten. When a child the family moved to Chilton, where she was united in marriage to William Milhaupt of this city. Her husband passed away March 29, 1938, in this city and since that time she has made her home with her son, Arno, until his death, Sept. 7, 1938, when she went to Kenosha.
Survivors are three children, George, Kenosha, Mrs. W. H. Hunt, River Falls, and Mrs. Riley Stone, Portage; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Gertrude Kersten, and Mrs. J. M. Arnoldy, both of Alhambra, Cal.; a brother, Jacob, Green Bay.
She was a charter member of the Holy Rosary parish here, a member of the Christian Mothers Society of the Holy Rosary church, a member of the Pastime club and was also a member of the Happy Guild society of Gesu church Milwaukee.
Funeral services were held at the Holy Rosary church here with interment in St. Marys cemetery, Chilton.
