- Ethel A. Niesz, Little Chute, age 91, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born in Little Chute on March 1, 1923 to the late Arthur and Rose (Hermsen) Pennings. Ethel married Jacob Niesz on September 17, 1949 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on February 18, 1972.
Ethel retired from Little Chute Pharmacy. She was a member of Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258 Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She loved spending time with her family, knitting her famous baby sweaters, playing cards, baking, listening to Daniel O'Donnell, and faithfully praying her rosary.
Ethel is survived by her daughters: Sandra (Ron) Diedrick, Kaukauna; Patricia (Warren) Hacker, Sherwood; Linda (Mark Stromme) Rasmussen, Little Chute; and Julie (Bill Schider) Picard, Menasha; grandchildren: Gina (Steve) O'Brien, Mike (Nicole) Diedrick, Greg (Valerie), Lisa (Scott Schefe), and Dan (Jodi) Hacker, Katie (Isaac) Broyld, Maggie Rasmussen, Matt (Alexandria Hietpas) and Josh (Jessica) Meyerhofer, and Kevin Lotzer; great grandchildren: Dylan, Jonah and Halle O'Brien, Stella and Ace Diedrick, Pierson, Lane and Haydin Hacker, Olivia Broyld, Blake, Brayden, Chase and Charlotte Meyerhofer; siblings: Rosemary Pennings, Clare Dercks, and Joe (Cassie) Pennings; sisters / brothers-in-law: Marilyn Pennings, Joe Niesz, Rosie Niesz, and Jack Rogers. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ethel was preceded in death by Jacob's parents: Michael and Anna Niesz; infant sister, Theresa; her siblings: Art Pennings, Jr., Mildred (Bob) Jansen, Margaret (Bill) Zornow; brothers / sisters-in-law: Gene Dercks, Annette, John (Lil) and Mike Niesz, Ann (Leo) Hagany, Katie (Clem) Fink and Mary Rogers; and Godson, Jim Dercks.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St., Little Chute) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Ronald Belitz will officiate. Committal St. John Cemetery. To sign the guest book, please visit oconnellfh.com.
