Holleran, Eunice Kathryn (nee Scholl)
Eunice Kathryn Holleran (nee Scholl), 97, Appleton, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at her home. She was born in Appleton on Dec. 18, 1910, to the late Robert and Rose (Newhouse) Scholl.
Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Stephan; brothers, Robert and Kenneth Scholl; and sisters, Rose (DeGuerre), Ione (Saecker) and Hallice (Young).
She is survived by her niece, Laurie Scholl, Appleton; nephew, Daniel K. Scholl and great-nephew, Andrew K. Scholl, both of Baton Rouge, La.
"Eunie" retired as an accountant from Pan American Airways in Miami with 30 years of service. During her active years, she enjoyed gardening, fishing and traveling. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. Eunie's life has been a living witness to kindness and compassion for the sick and ill. She freely chose to become a long-term caregiver to her husband, Steve, her twin sister, Hallice and husband, Dr. Joseph Young, her sister, Ione and husband, Wesley Saecker, her aunt, Margaret Glenz (Newhouse) and several friends. Her kindness and commitment to aid others will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
The family gratefully acknowledges the support and kindness shown to Eunie during her extended final illness by the many caregivers affiliated with Home Instead, the nurses and staff of Theda Care Hospice and the pastoral staff of St. Mary Catholic Church, Father Bob, Father Mike, Sister Joanne and Rosemary Trettin.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State St., Appleton, with the Rev. Michael O'Rourke officiating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Appleton.
Eunice supported the ACES Scholarship Program to assist families of children attending Catholic schools in Appleton. In lieu of flowers, support of this program may be considered.
