- Weyenberg, Eugene A. "Junior"
Eugene Weyenberg, 79, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 at his winter home in Florida with his family by his side. He was born to Eugene N. and Pauline (Stephani) Weyenberg on April 4, 1937 and raised in Freedom, WI, where he lived all his life until retirement.
Gene will be lovingly remembered by Donna (Gloede), his wife of 57 years; his children, Kristi (Jim) Kirk, Cheryl Van Grinsven, and Glen (Beth) Weyenberg; 10 grandchildren, Mike, Luke, Lyndsey (Keaton), Amber, Matt, Geoff, Mark, Troy, Hailey, and Lexi; 2 great-grandchildren, Carter and Ava; brother Bob Weyenberg and sister Shirley (Joe) Geurts; brothers-in-law, Don (Nancy) Gloede, Denis (Sheri) Gloede, and Dixon (Carlene) Gloede; and many other family and friends.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene N. and Pauline Weyenberg; father and mother-in-law, Marshall and Marjorie (Dixon) Gloede; son-in-law Bruce Van Grinsven; and sisters-in-law Florus Weyenberg and Dorothy Young.
Gene was a 40 year employee of Miller Electric/ITW, retiring at the age of 57. He was a friend to many and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Gene and Donna enjoyed many happy times together at their home on Moshawquit Lake, where they welcomed family and friends and created many joyful memories. Gene was grateful for more than 20 fun retirement years filled with traveling with Donna, family, and numerous friends. He also enjoyed fishing, watching & feeding the eagles, pontoon boat rides, playing cards, golf, and softball.
Visitation will be at St. Nicholas Church in Freedom on Saturday, December 10 from 10:00 a.m. until noon. A memorial mass at noon will be officiated by Father Walter Stumpf and Father Luke Strand. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Gene's name.
