(nee Henke)
Age 81, of Black Creek, entered her heavenly home on October 12, 2002 at home surrounded by her family members. The daughter of the late Gustav and Ella (Klitzke) Henke was born on November 14, 1920 in the town of Center, Outagamie County. She was baptized at St. John's in the Town of Center. Ethel married Nolan Volkman on November 28, 1940.
Ethel was very active in the Lord's work and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Black Creek, playing organ, teaching Sunday School, member of the choir, Fox Valley Lutheran Ladies Guild, Immanuel Ladies Aide and volunteer at Bargain Gardens. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a wonderful friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Nolan, her children: Jean (Ronald) Hinkfuss, Bonduel Ellen (Verlin) Sellin, Waupaca Ralph (Sandy) Volkman, Black Creek Linda (Dennis) Tiedt, Appleton and Lance (Mary Jo) Volkman, Black Creek 20 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Further survived by two brothers: Arthur (Helen) Henke, Appleton Carl (Dorothy) Henke, Shawano in-laws: Orval (Catherine) Volkman and Rita Volkman, Appleton. She was preceded in death by one brother, Willard five sisters-in-law three brothers-in-law two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 201 East Birch Street, Black Creek, Tuesday, October 15 from 4-8 p.m. The visitation will continue Wednesday after 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral service will be Wednesday, 11 a.m. at the church with the Reverend Steve Schlicht officiating. Burial at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ethel's name.
