VandenBoogaard, Esther Esther VandenBoogaard, age 83, passed away Monday, November 12, 2007, at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center following an extended illness with Parkinson's Disease. She was born April 16, 1924, in Menasha, daughter of the late Charles and Martha (Dombrowski) Kropidlowski. She married Jerome Johnson, June 13, 1945, sharing 27 years together before his death May 6, 1973. She married Vincent VandenBoogaard October 18, 1974, sharing 27 years together before his death November 4, 2001. Esther was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 55 years and was involved as a CCD teacher and the Christian Mothers Society for many years.
Esther is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Greg Schmidt, Menasha; three sons and daughters-in-law: Chuck and Darna Johnson, Black Creek; Ron and Sue Johnson, Appleton; Jim and Janice Johnson, Neenah; a sister: Theresa VanEperen, Kimberly; 14 grandchildren: Jeff (Lisa) Underhill; Brian (Julie) Borchardt; Sheri Borchardt; Terri (Dennis) Martin; Karen (Brett) Pemble; Vickie Johnson; Kristin Johnson; Michele Johnson; Alicia Schmidt; Katrina Schmidt; Gary Schmidt; Rian Schmidt; Jesse Johnson and Callie Johnson.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles and Chester Kropidlowski and two sisters: Geraldine Heissel and Rita DuFord.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton, with the Rev. Norm Krutzik officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel on Sunday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Sacred Heart Church in the Sacred Heart Room. A parish wake service will be held Sunday 5:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorials may be directed to the National Parkinson Foundation.
The family would like to offer their thanks to the staff at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center for the wonderful care Esther received while there. The family would also like to express a special thank you to "our sister Judy" who was always there for mom.
