    • Esther Medonna Sorenson Spranger, 90, formerly of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000 in Denver, Colo.

      She was born Aug. 9, 1910, in Fisher, the daughter of Tom Sorenson and Emma Olson Sorenson. When she was 8 years old, she moved with her family to Bygland. After attending Central Junior High School in East Grand Forks, she graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1928.

      On Oct. 14, 1930, she married Elmer M. (AL) Spranger of St. Cloud. To this marriage were born five children, Gary, Gloria, Alan, Patti and Lana.

      Mrs. Spranger was food service director of Our Lady of Victory Church for 30 years, retiring in 1986. She was also past Grand Regent of Catholic Daughters, a member of the church choir for 30 years, President of St. Ann’s Society and contributed many articles to the St. Cloud Visitor newspaper. She was also an expert bridge player and held a Seniors Master Card.

      Preceding her in death were her former husband Al, who died in 1995; a daughter, Gloria who died in 1987; seven sisters, Jule, Ann, Olga, Mary, Selma, Edna and Mildred; and two brothers, Chester and Meldor.

      Survivors include two sons, Gary (Jotty) and Alan (Judy) all of Denver; two daughters, Patti of Denver and Lana (Bill) Blossom of Rochester, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren;15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Schue of Grand Forks, N.D.

      Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to Catholic Daughters or the Senior Choir at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls, or the Otter Tail County Historical Society in Fergus Falls.
