      Kempen, Esther Lorraine "Granny"
      Esther Lorraine Kempen, 74, was called to Heaven on Jan. 26, 2008, with family at her side. Esther was born Sept. 2, 1933, in Wittenberg, to the late Emil and Helen (Williams) Schultz. She married Harvey Henry Kempen on July 18, 1955. He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1982. Esther was a warm, loving, caring and compassionate woman. She always had a kind word and a warm smile to share. Esther loved her family deeply and always kept them all close to her heart. She was a devoted Christian and loved God endlessly. Esther was a member of Riverview Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton.

      She is survived by sons, Dave (Barb), Phil (Nancy), Rex and Kerry; daughter, Cassie (Bob) Gamble; daughter-in-law, Vicki; 12 grandchildren, Michael, Chris, Tommy (Angie), Quston (Morris), Tyler (Erin), Mitchell (Michelle), Jillian, Robert, Scot, Jacob, Caleb and Isaac; eight great-grandchildren, McKayla, TJ, Tabitha, Morris, Connor, Sophia, Javon and Sean; brothers, Lee (Ria) and Mike; sisters, Lila (Orville), Eva, Eleanor, Adeline (Don) and Donna (Rueben).

      Esther was also preceded in death by son, Jeffrey; brother, Marvin; and sister, Eunice.

      Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Feb. 2, 2008, at RIVERVIEW EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 136 E. Seymour Street, Appleton, with the Rev. Dennis W. Belter officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.

      A memorial has been established in her name.
