- Ervin Matthew "Schimmel" Sell, age 94, of Chilton, died on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born December 7, 1919 in Charlestown, son of the late Anton & Elizabeth (Braun) Sell. Ervin proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He married Rosemary C. Stein on July 23, 1952 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton.
During his life, Ervin worked for the Carnation Company in Chilton and drove bus for Daun Bus Service. In his retirement, he worked at the Chilton Shopping Center and Furniture Plus in Brillion where he delivered furniture. He was a lifetime member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Chilton. Ervin enjoyed gardening, was a Packer and Brewer fan, and looked forward to drives through the countryside. He especially took great pleasure in using his hands to craft wooden items; most notably the countless tulips he made.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years: Rosemary; his children: Ken (Sue) Sell of Kiel, Terry (Kris) Sell of Marinette, 2 sisters: Leona Paltzer of Appleton, Appie Eichmeier of Hilbert; a brother-in-law: Robert (LaVern) Stein of Chilton; and sisters-in-law: Agnes (Danny) Beil of Hilbert, Carolyn (Ed) Tackett of Fond du Lac. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws: William & Caroline (Seipel) Stein; a sister: Amelia (Elmer) Propson; 5 brothers: John, Al, Claude, Fritz, & Joe (Esther) Sell; a sister-in-law: Mary Stein; and 3 brothers-in-law: Jacob Paltzer, Norbert Eichmeier, & James Stein.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Larry Abler, O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 pm until 7:30 pm on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 am until 11:15 am. A Parish Vigil Service will take place Wednesday evening at the funeral home at 7:30 pm.
