Biese, Elzer H. W3517 Cemetery Rd., Seymour
Age 78, died Monday evening, December 3, 2001 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. He was born August 18, 1923 in the Town of Wrightstown, son of the late Henry and Catherine (Van Asten) Biese. On June 22, 1946, he was united in marriage to Rita Vanden Heuvel in Seymour and shared over 55 years together. Elzer farmed in the Town of Seymour on the home farm. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour and of the Catholic Knights, Branch 197. He was a member of the Town of Seymour Rural Fire Department for 55 years. He served as secretary of the Seymour Rural Fire Department for over 20 years. He served on the Town Board for 40 years and was Town Chairman for 20 years. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, gardening, his family pets and visiting with family, friends and neighbors, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of his greatest honors was being elected Town Chairman for the Town of Seymour.
He is survived by his wife, Rita; his children: Mary (Norm) Steffens, Appleton; Barbara (James) Benzshawel, Appleton; Henry (Pam), Seymour; Gerald (Ruth), Seymour; Joan (David) Lease, Wasilla, Alaska; William (Linda), Black Creek; Joseph (Sue), Black Creek; Carol (Sam) Van Dyke, Green Bay; Janice (Dale) Schuessler, Seymour; Richard (Judy), Burns, Tennessee; 31 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, three sisters: Jane McCormick, Green Bay; LaVerne (Joseph) Vande Corput, Pulaski; Kathleen Biese, Appleton; three brothers: Don (Lillian), Kimberly; Robert (Rose), Black Creek; Marvin, Kaukauna; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Henry Vanden Heuvel and friend, Diane; Donald (Rosemary) Vanden Heuvel, Mary Ann (John) Erickson, Elsie Mae (Boniface) Mitchell, Michael (Dorothy) Vanden Heuvel.
He was preceded in death by a grandson and two great-granddaughters.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour Thursday from 4-8 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. and Friday at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour, from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. with Fr. Martin Fox officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
The family would like to thank Unity Hospice for all their special care and concern and Deacon DeBruin for all his visits. A memorial fund has been established.
