- Elvira "Vera", age 85, has passed away after a two-year courageous battle of living with cancer. She died peacefully at her home on Tuesday.
She was born to John & Josephine (Schuerman) Dorshorst. She had lived in the Lake Mills area most of her adult life. She married Gerald Haberman of Waterloo on March 9, 1943, in Cottage Grove. He died on Jan. 26, 1988.
She had been employed at Hamlin, Inc. for over 24 years before retiring in 1992.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Mills.
She enjoyed playing cards, especially Sheepshead and Euchre, doing puzzles, traveling, being on the farm, raising children, and playing with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and, most recently, her great-great-granddaughter.
Survivors include her six sons, four daughters, 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She also was preceded in death by three sons, Wayne in 1967, Phillip in 1977 and Danny in 1993; one daughter in infancy, Betty Lou; two brothers, Donald and Kenneth Dorshorst; and one sister, Patsy Pollard.
