    • Elmer E. Brockman 97, Appleton, was taken to his heavenly home Thursday, February 19, 2009. He was born July 8, 1911 in Neenah to John and Mary (Osterman) Brockman. Elmer married Vanda E. Heller October 24, 1936 and she preceded him in death on January 31, 2003. Elmer enjoyed fishing and a round of competition whether it be at sheepshead or checkers. He had a great sense of humor and loved to play pranks on family and friends. He will be remembered for his strong faith and willingness to share it with others.
      Elmer will be sadly missed by his children: Carlton (Joyce) Brockman, Darboy; Barbara Ulmer, Neenah; Susan (Glen) Carmichael, Wausau and Audrey (Mark) Zuberbier, Black Creek; grandchildren: Melissa (Brendan) Sullivan, Wauwatosa; Matthew Ulmer, Neenah; Brenda (Brian) Bellile, Hortonville; Tammy (Neil) Drews, Schofield; Heather (Warren) Cox, Ohio; James (Karen) Zuberbier, Appleton; Timothy (Katie) Zuberbier, Kaukauna; Joshua (Miranda) Zuberbier, Black Creek and Elizabeth (Ryan) Schmalz, Grand Chute; step-grandchildren: Sara (Jesse) Kleinschmidt, Wausau and Matthew Carmichael; Wausau; great grandchildren: Mikaela and Aidan Sullivan, Beau, Samuel and Joseph Bellile; Samantha and Dillon Cox; Aiden Zuberbier and Adalyn Schmalz; step great grandchildren: Blaze and Nadia Kleinschmidt; Sammie and Alec. He is further survived by a sister, Marie Horn, Appleton; brother-in-law, Hubert Dorschner, Appleton; sister-in-law Ruth Heller, Kaukauna and many nieces and nephews.

      He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry E. Ulmer; a great granddaughter Isabelle Bellile; brothers: John, Ervin and Harry (Luella) Brockman; a sister, Anna Brockman; brother-in-law, Harry Horn; brothers and sisters-in-law: Margaret (Marvin) Westphal; Edna (Byron) Jensen; Franklin (Marie) Heller; Helen Dorschner; Marion (Palmer) Sell; Harry Heller.

      Funeral services for Elmer will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 23, 2009 at Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church, 436 South Lake St. Neenah with Rev. Richard Krahn officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. Friends may visit the family Sunday evening at the Valley Funeral Home from 5
      pm and again at the church Monday from 1:00 pm until the time of services. A memorial fund is being established.

      The family wishes to give special thanks to all the staff at Peabody Manor for the care, love and support of Elmer for the past eight years. A special thanks to Rev. Robert Balza for his monthly chapel service. Also a special thanks to volunteers, Char and Mike Dorow and Ron Schlichte who so faithfully gave much of their time each week to play sheepshead with Elmer and other residents.
