    • Ellsworth H. Below, 91, Oregon, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Nov. 2, 1920, in Clintonville, the son of Arthur and Vivian (Zell) Below. He married Jeanette Mary Loughrin on May 29, 1948. Ellsworth was a veteran of World War II. He worked for the State of Wisconsin as a corrections officer for 24 years, retiring in December 1975. Ellsworth was a lifetime member of the Oregon-Brooklyn VFW Post #10272, and also a member of Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church.

      He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; children, Joanne (Richard) Schroeder, Mark (Carol) Below, Susan (John) Black, John (Debra) Below, Leonard (Cheryl) Below, and Judith (Jeffery) Retrum; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Dorothy Nielson, Marian Schneider, and Ann Behnke; and sister-in-law, Florence Buelow. He was preceded in death by his infant son, James; daughter, Jeanne Ferchoff; his parents; brother, Delmar; and brothers-in-law, Robert Nielson, Leonard Schneider, and Glenn Behnke.

      A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main Street, Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012, with Father Gary Wankerl presiding. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery with military honors being conducted. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare or American Cancer Society.
