- Elizabeth Bastian, daughter of the late George and Carrie (Simpson) Lambie, passed away in her sleep at her home, on Thursday, September 23, 2010, and will be reunited in Heaven with her husband Clarence, her grandson, Jim Hillegas, and her parents. Betty was born on June 6, 1913. She married Clarence Bastian on February 3, 1930; he preceded her in death in 1977. Together they farmed in the Town of Freedom for all of their married life. In addition to working alongside her husband on the farm, Betty helped with bookkeeping when Clarence sold Funk's Seed Corn. She enjoyed gardening, especially working with her raspberries. Many beautiful dolls, which she crocheted, were given as gifts. In her quiet way, her genuine caring for others made a difference in so many lives.
She will be missed by her daughter, Sandi Hillegas, her granddaughter Lisa Hungerford (fiance Scott Falkner), their children, Lindsey (Nick) Stehofsky and Paul Falkner; great-great-grandson, Anthony; her son, Ron (Noretta) Bastian, Reedsville, and their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and her sister, Georgia Arndt, De Pere.
She is further preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Lambie, and three sisters and brothers-in-law: Esther (Ed) Nelson, Edna (Harold) Tank, and Blanche (George) LaRue, and brother-in-law, Ted Arndt. Also with her will be her husband's sister, Viola (Joe) Williamsen and his brothers, Roy (Elsie) Bastian and Gilbert (Agnes) Bastian.
Funeral Services for Elizabeth will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna, with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
Thanks to Lisa and Scott for all their help. Thanks also to Mike Landeau, who was always ready to brighten her day with a helping hand and a warm hug. We wish to express a special thanks to the ThedaCare at Home Hospice staff and volunteers for all the care and compassion they gave mom.
