- Neenah - Edythe Claire (Meyer) VanRossum, age 81 of Neenah, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, March 18, 2018.
Edythe (Fritz, as she was affectionately called by her family) was born on October 29, 1939 in Neenah, WI and lived there all but one year of her life, when she accompanied her husband Don to New Mexico to work on a mission for young boys.
Edythe was married to her loving life-long companion and best friend, Donald VanRossum on October 12, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton. Edythe and Don were inseparable. They met soon after Don returned from being in the Korean War, and were forever together until Don passed away in May of 2014, leaving a void in Edythe that none but the Lord could fill.
As a young woman, Edythe and her two sisters formed a musical group called "The Meyer Sisters." They performed at many local events and venues becoming known as a lovely harmonic trio. Edythe's working years were focused on the insurance industry. She retired from Insurance Services in Appleton.
Edythe and were over 50 year members of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Neenah, and very generous donors to many charities.
Edythe was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel (Buxton) Meyer; her forever love, Don; her sisters: Marge Weber and Dorothy Barlament; and her brothers, John and Clyde Meyer. Though Fritz and Don did not have children of their own, they made a loving and positive impact on the lives of their nieces and nephews beyond what they know. "Thank you for always loving us and being there for us Don and Fritz."
The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, with Fr. Larry Seidl officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday at church from 3:00 P.M. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in memory of Don and Fritz.
We will always love and miss you Dear "Snickelfritz!"
Special thanks and affection goes out to Compassus Hospice of Green Bay, and our very special Angel Nurse, Erin! Your help and support made Edythe's journey much more comfortable and acceptable for all of us!
