- Van Denzen, Edyth M. (Holcomb) Appleton
Age 82, went to spend her first Christmas in Heaven on Wednesday, December 22, 2004. She was born in Appleton on September 23, 1922, daughter of the late Rei and Loretta (Pauli) Holcomb. On November 9, 1945 she married William Van Denzen in Louisville, KY. He preceded her in death in 1994. Edyth was a longstanding member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton, including being a gym teacher in the 1960s. She enjoyed crocheting and swimming with friends at the Y.M.C.A. Spending time with her family at her cabin at Long Lake was very important to her.
Edyth is survived by her children: Rodney (Ruth) Langman of Knoxville, TN, Thomas (Yolanda) Van Denzen of Riverside, CA, Michael Van Denzen of Waupaca, Randy (Rose) Van Denzen of Weyauwega, and Tammy (Jeff) Most of Little Chute; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers: Stanley (Marge) Holcomb and Dick (Kathy) Holcomb, both of Appleton. Edyth is preceded in death by her first husband Donald Langman and a brother, Darrell Holcomb.
The funeral liturgy will be at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 West Lawrence Street, Appleton, with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. Friends will be received at church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will be at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
The family extends a special thank you to Jane Rogalski and Marion Baumann for their special attention and to Franciscan Care and Rehabilitation Center for their care and concern.
A memorial fund in Edyths name is being established.
