    • Edward Eloy Coffey 78, Suring, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, following a short illness. He was born to the late Eloy and Mary (McNamara) Coffey in the town of Erin on March 14, 1935. He served in the ARMY National Guard for 14 years and during that time he married Gloria Pinkert on July 19, 1958, in Milwaukee. He was employed by the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier while also farming in Johnson Creek. After moving from the farm in the late 1970's the couple owned and operated The Pines Resort in Crooked Lake. They moved to Suring in 1978 and Ed retired from Gillett Public School. He lived at Meadowlands Assisted Living in Oconto Falls for the last year. He is a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Suring and the American Legion Post #283. He enjoyed driving horses, house painting, fishing, playing cards, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

      Ed is survived by his son, Dennis (Debra) Coffey, Suring; three daughters, Denise (Bob) School, Suring; Maureen (Randy) Pagel, Oconto Falls; Michele (Kurt) Deneys, Howard; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mickey Coffey, Milwaukee; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

      Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria on April 24, 2008; a daughter, Erin; a grandson, Chad Pagel; two sisters, Jean Klein, Kate Stout; three brothers, Leo Coffey, Donald Coffey, and Larry Coffey.

      Visitation will be held at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. with Father Dean Dombroski officiating. Ed will be laid to rest next to his wife Gloria in St. Michael Catholic Church Cemetery with full military rites. Online condolences can be expressed at www.gruetzmcherfuneralhome.com
