Ed was born on April 20, 1917, in Kaukauna, the son of the late Edward and Wilhelmina (Carnot) Kaphingst. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II as a flight engineer on B-26 bombers. After his military service, Ed returned to Kaukauna and on August 16, 1947, married Marion Anna Albert. Ed and Marion were together for 57 years until her death in 2004. Ed's love for his Lord was displayed through his love and dedication for his wife and family. He belonged to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church his entire life, being baptized, confirmed, married, and now being put to rest there. Ed was also of service to his Lord by helping at church in any way he could. He loved to play cribbage, hunt, fish, and make wine. He will be missed not only by his family, but by very close family friends Monroe and Lenore Romenesko, his Friday night fish fry buddy Arnie Breitung, the gang at HoHo's Restaurant, and all the dear friends Ed and Marion had at Greenfield Manor.
The Christian Funeral for Ed will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, November 3, 2007, at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 Grignon Street in Kaukauna, with Rev. Karl Schultz officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again Saturday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the services. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the many people who cared for Ed over the past weeks. They include the many wonderful nurses from ThedaCare At Home, Dr. John Swanson and his staff, Dr. Timothy Goggins and his staff, and Dr. Al Cherkasky - a long-time neighbor and friend of the family, Ed loved and was loved by his family, grand children and great grandchildren. We will miss you Dad and Grandpa.
We thank God everyday for giving us, YOU.
