    • Mrs. George (Edith) Beattie, Sr., 78, of Shiocton, formerly of Brillion, died unexpectedly Friday, July 8, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton.
      She was born September 17, 1904 in the town of Liberty, daughter of the late Lymann and Lena (Krause) Dexter. She married George Beattie, on June 24, 1924 in Michigan.
      She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Brillion and the Women’s Guild.
      Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Doris Lutz of Shiocton; and Mrs. Clayton (Sarah) Arndt and Mrs. Norbert (Sandra) Kuchenbecker, both of Brillion; five sons, George Jr., and John, both of Brillion; Robert of Kiel; David of Hilbert; and Melvin, of Beaver Dam; 49 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; two sisters; Mrs. Evelyn Wauske, of Green Lake, and Mrs. Bessie Beattie of New London.
      She was preceded in death by her husband on June 1, 1972, a daughter, a son, three sisters and two brothers.
      The funeral was Monday afternoon at peace United Church of Christ, Brillion, with the Rev. Roger Mealiff officiating. Burial was in the Brillion Community Cemetery.
