      Age 94, died at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.She was born December 13, 1908 in Ogdensburg daughter of the late Rodney and Mabel (Lockwood) Dain.Her mother died when she was 15 months old and was raised by her grandparents:James and Mary Dain.She went to Ogdensburg School.On December 28, 1925 she married Daniel Hedtke in Green Bay.Dan was killed in a car accident on May 6, 1935 leaving Edith with five small boys and one born eight months later.They had an auction and moved to New London to the Bean City area and did field work for farmers for 10 cents an hour she also worked at Bicoff of Black Creek, Hortonville Toy Factory and Standard Components of Oshkosh.She married Fred Kanaman in 1943.She loved animals, her horses and birds, especially Blue Birds.She loved to dance and play cards.She is survived by four sons:Leslie (Mildred) Hedtke, Hortonville; Daniel Hedtke, New London; Wallace (Evelyn) Hedtke, Appleton; Gaylord (Dorothy) Hedtke, New London; two daughters-in-law:Ruby Hedtke, Bear Creek; Delores Hedtke, Neenah; a half sister, Gwen Kadie, Iola; 27 grandhildren and 64 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-granchildren.Preceded in death by her husbands; two sons:Arnold and Henry; three brothers:Orin, Jim and Rodney; two sisters:Mae and Ardell; three grandsons:Steve, Gaylord Jr. and Arnold Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Delores.Funeral services will be Thursday, February 13, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with the Rev. Brian Hennig officiating.Burial will be in the Little Wolf Cemetery.Friends may call at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Wednesday, February 12, 2003 from 4-8 p.m.
