Age 81, died Friday evening following a seven year illness. He was born March 10, 1896 in Menasha where he was a life resident. Mr. O'Brien retired from School Stationery in 1966. He was in Company E in World War I. He was a member of the Lenz-Gazecki American Legion Post #152 and was a past commander of the post, a member of the VFW, and the barracks post 2318, a past scoutmaster of St. Mary Church in Menasha and a past President of the Holy Name Society of St. John Church. His father, Tim O'Brien was the first white child born in Menasha.
Survivors include his wife, Verna, two sons, Ronald and Bruce, both of Menasha, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and Laemmerich Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Norman Fontaine officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Sunday and from 2-9 p.m. Monday. Rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Monday.
