- Dorothy Nell Matzke, 92, De Pere, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday evening February 11, 2017. Dorothy was born in De Pere on April 2, 1924 to the late Fred and Frances (VerHeyen) Aerts.
She married Donald Matzke in June of 1946, he preceded her in death on December 10, 1988. She and Don were lifelong residents of De Pere. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening but took great pride in making beautiful ceramics. Dorothy enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren excel in their many activities, she was always there to cheer them on.
Survived by her children: Linda (Russ) Wiese, Greenleaf; Sandy (Tom) Eifler, Green Bay; and Leon (Judy) Matzke, Sturgeon Bay; her grandchildren: Andrea (Don) Socha, Daryl (Sara) Eifler, Brian (Shelly) Wiese, Brett (Rachel) Eifler, Amanda (Jamie) Johnson.
Dorothy's great grandchildren: Kayla & Ryan Socha, Dalton & Hayden Wiese, Mya & Rylie Eifler, Beckett & Easton Johnson and Taylor Verhagen
Her siblings: Loretta Thyssen, Marge Buresh, Bill Aerts, Rosemary McVey, Bette Mae Jones, Jean McVey, Pat Geurts and Gerry VandenBogart, as well as members of Don's family survive her.
In addition to her husband, Don, she was preceded in death by her two children, Darrell and Larry Matzke, sisters, Alice VandeHei, Ceil Cornelissen and Janice Beyer.
Family and friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, De Pere after 9:00AM Saturday February 18, 2017 until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM with Fr. Benny Jacob O.Praem. officiating.
