    • Sauk City- Doris C. VandeHey, age 88, died peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. She was born in La Crosse on September 5, 1920, the daughter of the late Roland and Katherine (Lecher) Kelley. Doris graduated from West Allis High School. It was there that she danced at assemblies, where fellow student, Liberace, graced the piano. She loved to dance to the big band music of the times. She met the love of her life on a double date. He was not her date , but following their first official date , Bill would ask for her hand in marriage. She was united in marriage to Bill VandeHey on May 14, 1942 in Lake Charles, LA, and shared 65 years together. They traveled the world for 22 years with Bill's enlistment in the Air Force. They settled in Oregon, WI in 1972 and moved to Prairie du Sac in 1995. Doris was a member of St. Aloysius Church and an avid volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul. Doris had an amazing ability to make a house a home and in so many ways she showed her love and commitment to her family. She truly had the serving hands of Christ her Lord and Savior.

      Survived by 4 children: James (Tamara) , William R., Catherine (William) Stowers, Deborah (Nicholas Dearth) Vande Hey.
      12 Grandchildren: Jereme (Roni), Jason (Jessica) , Joel (Dana Fjoser) , Jarrod (Michelle Acker),and Timothy Vande Hey, Tara (Mark) Frey, Laura (Klas) Andeasson, Erik and Kristin Stowers, Courtney (Melanie) Corning, Phillip (Candace) Altchul, Gilbert Altchul.
      15 Great grandchildren: Raechel, Caitlin, Jacob, Elizabeth, Eva, Allana, Maiah, Emma, Ayden, Bryce, Cora, Oskar,Casey, Payton, and Emily.
      In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother Charles and a sister in law Alvira Kelley.
