Donald L. Gerrits, West DePere, Dead in Korean Fighting
Private First Class Donald L Gerrits, 19, was killed in action in the Taejon area in Korea SEpt. 19, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gerrits, route 1, West De Pere, have been informed.
The youngsoldier servedwith the 19thregiment,24thInfantry division and had landed in Korea. July 3. He enlisted in the army Jan. 21. 1949.and took his basic training at Camp Breckenridge, Ky. He left for Japan in April after a furlough at home.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception church and the Holy Name society. Oneida.
Survivors are the parents' two sisters, Mrs. Sylvester Manders, West De Pere, and Miss Rosella at home; four brothers.Lloyd,Green Bay. Clarence.Kaukauna. and Robert and Kenneth. at home and his grandfather.Louis Gerrits.route 2, Kaukauna.
The funeral mass will be at o'clockTuesdaymorningat Immaculate Conceptionchurch,Oneida.
