    • New London - Donald Dennis Crain, age 93 of New London, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 6, 2019. Don was born on December 15, 1925 to the late Francis "Frank" and Ethel (Ahearn) Crain in the Town of Lebanon. Don was united in marriage to Marie Doud on October 4, 1947 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Town of Lebanon. Together they celebrated 71 years of marriage in 2018. He lived and farmed his entire life in the Town of Lebanon. Don and Marie were the Irish Man and Irish Rose of the year in 1997. Don was the town treasurer for 62 years and the people in the town actually "enjoyed" paying their taxes to Don! He loved sports of all kinds and was a great athlete in his younger years. Don and Marie were always in the bleachers watching their kids and grandkids play sports.

      Don is survived by his wife, Marie; daughters, Mary (Arnie) Nienhaus and their children, Lisa (Joe) Webb and their children, Hannah and Hailey: Jeff (Molly) Nienhaus and their children, Maddy and Tanner: Pete (Shauna) Nienhaus and their children, Reilly and Audrey and Ben (Sarah) Nienhaus and their children, Grace, Troy and Grady: Betty and (Paul) Steingraber and their children, Eric (Missy) Steingraber and their children, Cali and Colton and Amy (special friend Dean) and her children, Mckenzie, Emily and Kayla: Barb (Jim) St. Marie and their son, Michael (Alex) St. Marie and their son, Jace: Jean (Brian) Palmer and their children, David (Courtney) Palmer and Tracy Palmer: Don's sons, Jim (Sherry) Crain and their children, Jesse (Elizabeth) Crain and their son, Finn: Joe Crain (special friend Brittany) and Andy (Kansas) Crain and their son, Clayton: Dave (Chris) Crain and their children, Taylor (special friend Michael) and Trevor (special friend Katie): Tom (Dawn) Crain and their children, Jena (Bryan) MacPhearson and their children, Lillian, Emellia and Lucille and Karlee Crain (fiancé Austyn) all of New London and Jerry (Kevin) Crain from Atlanta: a niece, Sue Johnston and a nephew, Tim Frost.

      Don was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Pat (Frost) Emenecker.

      A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in the Town of Lebanon. Visitation will take place from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 and again from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Town of Lebanon.
