Age 36. He was a wonderfun son, brother, brother in-law, uncle and a friend to many. He walked into many peoples lives and will be greatly missed by all, and now we know he is walking with Jesus in Heaven. He died unexpectedly at home, Tuesday, September 2, 1986. He was born October 16, 1949 in Kaukauna. He graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1968 and married Joyce Vanderheiden in April 1973. Denis was a member of Holy Cross Parish, Seasonal Choir, Respect Life Coordinator, Human Concerns Committee, all of Holy Cross. A member of the Knights of Columbus Concil 1033, Vietnam Veteran, a member of the VFW and past commander of post 3319, Kaukauna, Spinal Cord Society, Pro Life Movement, and Treasurer of the Town of Kaukauna.
He is survived by his parents, Ernest and Jane [Nackers] Vandehey, Kaukauna; three brothers and sisters in-law, Ken and Jan Vandehey, Mark and Sue Vandehey, Steve and Peg Vandehey, all of Kaukauna; three sisters and brothers in-law, Bonnie and John Gilles, Mackville; Mary Jane and Carl Vanden Heuvel, Ellen and Dan Eisenschink, all of Kaukauna; aunts, uncles and very special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents; a brother, Jim in 1964; a brother in-law, Bernie Schmidt in 1969. The Mass of Ressurection will be Friday, at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. Mike Somers officiating. He will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the Fargo Funeral Home from 6 until 9 p.m. Thursday evening and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of services. There will be a prayer service 8 p.m. Thursday evening. A memorial has been established in Denis's name for Holy Cross Parish.
